#8 - The Power of Nice

Against all hope or expectation, I got another flyby hitup while in the process of posting up my backlog of judgemental amusements!

[1:42:27 pm]HonestRomeo:hey im gunna be honest im horny and wanna tlk dirty are u up for it

[1:43:10 pm]TheSnob:I appreciate your honesty, and respectfully decline. Good luck in finding what you seek.

  1. Why do people tell complete strangers (whom they've never spoken to or met) that they're horny? Do they think it'll make us more obliging to 'tlk dirty' with them when they use bad grammar and no punctuation? Do they think women are to be wooed by the sore lack of command over the English language?

And we haven't even gotten to the lack of capitalization yet. ;)

  2. I could take my virtual red pen just to that one sentence, really....

    1.hey2. 3.im 4.gunna be honest5. 6.im horny and 7.wanna 8.tlk dirty9. 10.are 11.u up for it12.

    1. Start your sentence with a capital letter.
    2. An opening interjection should be followed by a comma.
    3. It's "I'm" - a contraction of "I am."
    4. It's two words, spelled "going to."
    5. Requires a breaking punctuation - either end of sentence, such a a period, or a delineation of phrasing to indicate that the following statement is to expand and clarify, such as a colon.
    6. Regardless of which you choose in #5, This should be "I'm", a contractiong of "I am."
    7. It is two words, "want to."
    8. I think you mean "talk."
    9. Again, this should be the end of a sentence, and therefore have punctuation to demarcate. A period would be fine.
    10. Given #9, this should be capitalized as the beginning of a sentence.
    11. "You" is a short enough word already. Don't shorten it to a single letter.
    12. There should be ending punctuation, specifically, a question mark.

Still, he got points for both honesty, and not pushing the matter.
